2012 Knoxville Competition Results

We seeded 6th out of 54 teams in Knoxville, TN. Not a bad finish for our first competition.
Rankings, Match Results, and Awards are posted here: (Team 1501)

We also won the Imagery Award!
Imagery Award in honor of Jack Kamen
The Imagery Award is in honor of Jack Kamen, Dean’s father for Jack’s inspirational dedication to art and illustration, his gifted creativity and devotion to FIRST. The Imagery Award celebrates attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration from the machine to the team appearance.
We ended up playing in the elimination brackets, but was put out of the tournament in the Quarter Finals. we attempted to be the first in the WORLD to stack 3 robots, but we just ran out of time. Our team stacked 3 robots on the practice field twice. Attached is a nice picture of this.
Somehow we managed to avoid all the tornados down south, but on the way home, we crosses a tornado path that went across I-75 that was just surreal. You see things on TV, but it just never hits you until you see it in real life. We hoped everyone was ok.
We made it home safe, and this was a good event for us. The kids worked together and learned ALOT about teamwork.
This week we are preparing to attend Purdue Boilermaker Regional. I hope some of you can make it. Please come and watch on Saturday morning. March 17th. The event is from March 15-17 at the Purdue Armory Building. Friday and Saturday mornings are the best chances to see us play. – Chris
