Team Update #15: No blocking in Hybrid Mode

I am really excited to share this. It’s not a rule change but just an explanation from FIRST the “intent” of the rule. I seen Kilbytes 1024 at the Midwest regional get blocked several times by a team that would drive their robot and park in front of the lane divider IMPEDING HYBRID mode. This is something we’ve worried about alot…Well it’s pretty clear that if we get blocked, the team blocking will be yellow carded. Please see this clipage:

Blocking in Hybrid
As stated in Section 7.1, the objective of FIRST Overdrive is to attain a higher score than your opponent by making counter-clockwise laps with your robot around the TRACK while moving large TRACKBALLS over and/or under the OVERPASS that bisects the TRACK. Certain rules were put into place to allow and encourage this to occur.

<G40> states in its first sentence that “ROBOTS shall not intentionally IMPEDE the March 6, 2008 flow of traffic around the TRACK.” That is meant for the entire match. The rest of the rule goes on to define IMPEDING during the Teleoperated Period. Intentionally violating the first sentence of <G40> during the Hybrid Period is against the spirit of the rules.

Ok if your on the pit team, drive team, and safety team, we are having a pit operations meeting tomorrow from 6-8PM. Here is the list of pit team I got from the pit team leaders. Here you will learn the procedures and operations of running the pit. Please come for your ad-hoc training.

If your not on a TEAM yet please come to the meeting tomorrow and sign up to be on this wonderful crew of people.

If you are for SURE on the SCOUTING TEAM, media team, or PR team (ambassadors) please stay home and catch up on homework. No need to attend this meeting. Unless you have work you need to catch up on. Then your welcome to come.

Team Update #13 and #14 Posted

In team update #13, it’s a rules change where a ball in motion at the buzzer still counts when it comes to rest, but the ball can not be touching the robot.

In team update #14, a warning is given to driver consoles to velcro the station down at the wall. Several “run away” hybrid robots hit the wall and knocked off the whole operator console and they hit the floor. So we will be taking some velcro up to the wall and make sure we get ours secured.

Also they reminded us when the hybird mode ends, buzzer sounds, we are allowed to approach the operator console even though tele-operated mode has not started.
